FIREARMS

Firearms, including pellet or BB guns (loaded or unloaded); darts; or cap pistols should not be kept on the premises of any child care facility. These items can cause severe injuries and death. If the child care facility is a family child care home, the personal firearms of the homeowner should be kept unloaded in a locked cabinet in an area of the home away from the child care area and to which the children do not have access.

Note: This information is not intended to take the place of your state's or locality's child care regulations and laws. In every case, the laws and regulations of the city, county, and state in which the child care facility is located must be carefully followed even if they differ from these recommendations.
